In order to make this series of paintings, I drew dreams in sketch books with colored pencils. Compositions were then reworked many times into pin nail sketches. It took documenting and sifting through many of these drawings to be driven to actually make a painting. I was unable to force a work to happen but had to wait for dream images and compositions to come that I felt strongly about. I painted from these drawing with acrylic on wood panels. Ultimately I became pulled to images with a dark and paradoxical quality, that made me laugh In this process I discovered the hidden gold in myself that is born from a less than beautiful place. Through honoring my dark, absurd and often humorous unconscious, I am left with a very enjoyable feeling of mystery and gratitude for being alive and for being a part of the collective unconscious.
